Patients with consolidated fat deposits and fullness underneath the chin are great candidates for having Kybella. This is usually referred to as a double chin. If you have poor elasticity under the chin then you are not a good candidate for Kybella. If you have an excessive amount of fat or adipose tissue Kybella may not be for you.
How many treatments will I need?
Your results and treatment course depends on the amount of excess fat you have under your chin. Patients may need 2-6 treatments in most cases. Most patients begin seeing results 3-4 weeks post-injection. Kybella permanently destroys fat cells. This treatment is permanent.
What can I expect during my Kybella treatment?
The practitioner will mark the area discussed during your consultation with a grid. The grid correlates with the amount of product required to treat the area. Ice therapy immediately before the injection has proven to be the best anesthetic. Although this treatment is minimally-invasive, you should be prepared for a small amount of bruising and/or redness, which can occur with any type of injection. There can be significant swelling post treatment and the next several days. Best not to plan any activities or outings during the recovery process.
